In nature, white-rot fungi may interact with surrounding microorganisms to enhance wood-rotting activity. However, it is not clear what microorganisms influence the function of white-rot fungi and by what interaction mechanism. We now attempt to identify the bacteria that may affect the wood rotting properties of white-rot fungi, and clarify their interaction mechanisms, by developing white-rot fungus-bacterial consortia and analyzing the relationship between the wood rotting properties of these consortia and the structure of the flora. We also aim to develop technology to control the function of white-rot fungi by using microbial interactions.
