On November 12, a joint symposium of three universities was held at Shizuoka City Industry-University Exchange Center (B-nest 6th floor) by University of Shizuoka, Hamamatsu University School of Medical and Research Institute of Green Science and Technology, Shizuoka University.

Under the theme of “Academia Cooperation in Shizuoka Prefecture and Researches to the world!,” Researchers from Universities, public institutions, and companies in Shizuoka Prefecture gathered and deepen various researches in multidisciplinary fields.

The symposium began with a greeting by Prof. Masakazu Kimura, vice-president of Shizuoka University, followed by a keynote speech by Prof. Daisuke Uemura, Director of Kanagawa University. He gave a lecture on the current and future of national Universities under the title of "Attractive and Prospects of Research of Universities".

He mentioned the importance of research that takes advantage of the individuality and characteristics of each University. And also He introduced some examples of the results of his research leading to approval of pharmaceuticals and drug discovery process.

Following, six researchers from the three Universities gave lectures in the fields of medical and pharmaceuticals, biology and informatics, and discussed about the various approaches, effective utilization and development of applied science and technologies.

This joint symposium, which was organized by Research Institute of Green Science and Technology, Shizuoka University, was held the first time. A total of 101 people, including researchers, students and general company audience, participated and it was closed with great success.

After the symposium, information exchange meeting was held to further deepen the cooperation between each University, and the three Universities will continue to cooperate in the future. We are expecting this symposium promotes collaborating with various industries and Universities researches.
