The 1st “International Conference on Green Science and Technology 2021 (ICGST2021)” was held

 The International Conference on Green Science and Technology 2021 (ICGST2021) was hosted by Research Institute of Green Science and Technology of Shizuoka University and held from September 21st to 22nd, 2021. As a partner, National Institute of Pharmaceutical Education (NIPER, India), Gadjah Mada University (UGM, Indonesia), University Technology Malaysia (UTM), and University Putra Malaysia (UPM) co-sponsored this ICGST2021.

 The ICGST2021 was held online as a countermeasure against infection with the COVID-19, and lectures by researchers recommended by the host four countries and research presentations by students were given over two days.
 The first day of the conference begins with the opening remarks by Professor Kazuyuki Hizume, President of Shizuoka University, the chair country. Director Enock Y. Park (Shizuoka University), who chairs the conference, introduced why we need green science and technology now, the purpose of holding this conference, and joint research among universities.
 Following, a special lecture by Professor Hirokazu Kawagishi (Shizuoka University), a plenary talk by Professor Bambang Sugiharto (University of Jember), and Director Ajit Dua (Punjab Biotechnology Incubator), Professor Hiroshi Mineno (Shizuoka University), and associate Professor Chua Lee Suan (UTM) as invited speakers gave talks on the Sustainable Development Goals "SDGs 2: ZERO HUNGER". Finally, Professor Noriko Matsuda (Shizuoka University) introduced the Asia Bridge Program.

 The second day of the ICGST2021 begins with an opening remark by Professor Siti Subandiyah (UGM) and a plenary lecture by Professor Ritu Aneja (Georgia State University) on the research content under the theme of "SDGs 3: GOOD HEALTH AND WELL-BEING". Subsequently, Professor Agung Endro Nugroho (UGM), Professor Tatsuya Kato (Shizuoka University), Professor Hidayah Ariffin (UPM) continued as Invited speakers.
 In the end, a plenary lecture by Professor Rosli bin Md Illias (UTM) and three invited talks were given by Professor Sankar K. Guchhait (NIPER), Professor Wiratni Budhijanto (UGM), and Professor Emeritus Takayuki Saito (Shizuoka University) on the research content under the theme of "SDGs 7: AFFORDABLE AND CLEAN ENERGY", then the conference was closed with the closing remarks by Professor Hesham El Enshasy (UTM).
 In addition, 12 students each day presented their research, and 4 of them were awarded the Best Presentation Award.
 A total of more than 270 researchers and students participated, with 161 people on the first day and 112 people on the second day.

 The 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) were raised on various global issues such as human rights issues, social issues, and the global environment. We focused on three goals, SDGs 2, 3, and 7, and valuable lectures were given at this conference. Collaborating with each university and research institution and sharing each other's knowledge and technology was a big step in advancing problem-solving.
